Add the finishing touch of quality to your U/T technique
With over 20 years of experience invested in its development and manufacture, the Surtest range of
Ultrasonic Couplants is one of the most versatile of its kind on the market today.
All products have excellent probe coupling and acoustic transmission properties and, due to their unique
formulation, ensure consistent and even probe movement over both rough and smooth surfaces.
In addition to this, all Surtest products are non-toxic in nature and contain effective corrosion inhibitors
making them suitable for use on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in a wide variety of laboratory and
field applications. |

Magnetic Particle inspection is one of the most widely used methods of Non Destructive Testing.
Although it can only be used to test ferromagnetic materials, magnetic particle inspection ( MPI) has many
applications in the automotive, nuclear, aerospace, civil, oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
MPI inspection can be used to equal effect for large volume production testing of components in the
automotive and aerospace industries as well as in-situ inspection such as welds on pipelines and
fabrications or pressure vessels. |

The Checkmor range of colour contrast(Red Dye)penetrant inspection processes provides a relatively simple,
but sensitive means of detecting discontinuities open to the surface on a wide range of materials embracing
metals, alloys and some ceramics.
The processes are versatile and are not restricted by the geometry of the components under examination.
They can be adapted for local inspection of suspect areas on large structures or for production inspection of
components in large quantities processed by immersion techniques.
These flaw detection methods consist of applying the selected penetrant to the surface of the previously
cleaned surface. After removal of the excess penetrant the amount of penetrant reatained in the defect is
extracted by the application of a suitable liquid developer, which dries leaving a highly absorbent white
coating on the surface. The pattern of the defect or discontinuity appears as a red indication on a white
background.
Visible colour contrast penetrant are not so vulnerable to contaminants trapped within defects as are
fluorescent penetrants and in this respect may be considered to have a slight advantage. Nevertheless,
effective surface preparation is essential.
Another advantage of these processes is that they offer the opportunity of testing on locations where
electric power to operate magnetising equipment, ultra-violet lights etc. is not available.
The semi-permanent indications of defects are visible in ordinary light thus assisting personnel involved
in localised re-working operations or on site testing. |

| The 'BRITEMOR' fluorescent penetrant brand was first introduced to the market over 50 years ago and
todays comprehensive range of products continues to meet the ever increasing market demands for
component reliability and quality. Britemor fluorescent penetrant processes are extremely versatile and
are not restricted by the geometry or size of components. Britemor products are extensively used for local
inspection applications as well as large volume production inspection in the aerospace, oil, gas,
petrochemical and automotive industries. |

Equipment Accessories for Penetrant Testing
Most penetrant testing accessories are used as an integral part of the penetrant inspection process itself
and also as a means of maintaining control of the process.
In many instances, penetrant inspection is done in situ using aerosols where there is less requirement for
additional equipment, especially for colour contrast penetrant testing. However, there is a requirment for a
variety of equipment accessories for in-house fluorescent penetrant testing depending on the process. |
